Deal Box was a band that I formed to present my music in a live context, as most of my songs don't lend themselves well to the solo acoustic treatment. The band existed sporadically in various permutations before disbanding in May of 1992.

The only studio recording documenting the group's existence is a track "Flying a Plane," included on Please No Profanity, featuring various artists from South Carolina. It was great fun recording it in the Huger St. practice area and in Chris Collins' (from Spigot and Toe Nut) apartment above Immaculate Consumption.

Flying A Plane Angles Down

See the people leaning on each other in the terminal

They're waiting in a line to buy a ticket to get where they're going

And they're always tired because their clocks are set to a different time zone

They hope their baggages won't leave them all alone I'm with them

Flying a plane I'm flying a plane

Up through the clouds and over the rain

I'm spilling my juice but I don't mind the stain

Cause I'm flying a plane I'm flying a plane

Me I've got a window seat, I'm staring at the tiny people

Riding tiny cars I think I see you in the yard

The movie's over and the stewardess asks me what I want to drink

I order, eat my food and relish every little turbulence because I'm

Flying a plane I'm flying a plane

Can't wait until I do it again

It's a kind of candy for my brain

Cause I'm flying a plane I'm flying a plane

Flying a plane I'm flying a plane

Up through the clouds and over the rain

I'm spilling my juice but I don't mind the stain

Cause I'm flying a plane I'm flying a plane
